Anti-roll bar

A anti-roll bar, also called a sway bar, is a steel U-shaped bar that connects the left and right wheel suspension. The purpose of the anti-roll bar is to keep the car as level as possible steering into a corner. Without the sway bar, the car will lean too far into the corner and thus could tip over. The anti-roll bar link is attached to the wheel suspension with bushes and brackets that together keep the car on a comfortably level.

An anti-roll bar generally doesn’t break that easy. How quickly it will wear depends on the driving behaviour of the owner. The sway bar will break more easily when driving on roads with many pits and bumps than it will on a nice paved, flat motor way. Holes, bumps and pits in the road will also cause the connection rod to wear faster. Do you hear a thumping sound on a bumpy road? Or does the car lean more than usual to a specific side?
