Gas struts are used to safely and easily open and close the tailgate of a trunk or cargo area. To prevent the tailgate from closing on its own, the gas strut must be precisely adjusted to the weight and position of the vehicle. Due to the slow release of gas, the gas strut can lose force over extended periods of use. This not only makes opening the tailgate difficult but is also a safety-relevant factor, as it is essential to ensure the tailgate does not close on its own. Quality through conviction. The gas strut consists of a piston rod and a cylinder. When the tailgate is closed, the piston rod pushes into the cylinder, compressing the gas inside. When the tailgate opens, the gas expands again, keeping the tailgate up. Gas struts can only be fully functional if the gas in the cylinder remains in place.
