Intercooler
The intercooler makes sure to cool the air before it reaches the turbocharger. An intercooler is then also only used in cars that have a turbocharger. A charge air cooler is necessary to improve the performance of your turbo. Because air that is sucked in by the turbo gets compressed, it heats up and gets less effective. The intercooler, therefore, cools the air down and making the engine more efficient. The air cooler directs the compressed air through small tubes and uses the wind to cool it down.
