Heater resistor broken

Over time, the heater resistor can break or work less well. When the heater resistor is broken, this can be noticed by the fan speeds. Certain fan settings will no longer work (properly) in this case. The blowing force will also decrease or even stop working in a certain position. For example, it does it in positions one and four, but not in positions two and three. It can also happen that the heater resistor no longer works at all. Replace heater resistor

The car's heater resistor is usually located under the dashboard next to the pollen filter. It is advisable to remove the pollen filter when replacing the heater resistor. You can push this aside to reach the resistance properly. You can remove the old heater resistor by turning it a quarter turn to the left. After removing the heater resistor, the power strip can also be disconnected. By shining a flashlight into the housing from below, it becomes visible where the new heater resistor should be placed. After placing the new resistor, the power strip can be reconnected and the air hose can be correctly placed again. Replacing the heater resistor takes about half a day.

A defect in the heater resistor is often the result of a heavy running fan motor. It is therefore advisable to replace the fan motor when replacing the heater resistor, which is also called the heater fan motor.
