Symptoms of a failing fuel pump

Like most car parts, a fuel pump is subject to wear. This may cause various defects. These defects can be caused by, for example, corrosion on the fuel tank. A contaminated fuel filter can also cause damage to the pump. Furthermore, contaminated or low-quality fuel can also cause damage. The pump can also overheat and break. Damage can be recognized by the following symptoms:

Engine decreases in power;

Low pressure in the fuel system;

The engine has difficulty starting;

Slow acceleration.

A fuel pump needs to be replaced if it supplies insufficient pressure or does not supply pressure at all. If there is not enough pressure, your car has trouble starting or cannot start altogether. In modern cars, the warning light on your dashboard will light up if there is something wrong with the fuel pump. This is the warning light that resembles an engine. Is your fuel pump broken?
