However, simply cleaning this valve is not always sufficient. Then it is the need to clean the whole intake system, such as the particle filter and the intake manifold.

You can easily purchase a new EGR-valve with your license plate. You can order a new EGR for as little as £25,-. Obviously, this depends on the make and type of your car. You can among others order a valve from the brands Bosch, Pierburg, Hella and Wahler. It is also possible to buy EGR-valve cleaners at Winparts.

EGR-valve

The EGR-valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), is located on all modern diesel engines. This valve reduces the emission of Nitric Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide (NOx). These exhaust gases pollute beside the valve also the particle filter and the intake manifold. Over time the EGR-valve needs to be replaced or cleaned, to prevent malfunctions.
