Purpose of a catalytic converter

The catalytic converter ensures that the harmful particles from the engine are converted into less harmful exhaust gases. These are converted into gases such as carbon dioxide, condensed water vapour and nitrogen. The toxic substances are cleaned by the monolith in the catalytic converter.
