What engine oil is in my car

There are a number of things to look out for when purchasing car oil. First, pay attention to the viscosity level of the motor oil. The viscosity is indicated in terms such as 5w30 or 15w40. The viscosity indicates the thickness of the liquid. The recommended viscosity can be found in the manual of your car. If there are several recommendations, we recommend choosing the lowest viscosity for driving long distances (eg. 5w30 engine oil). If you generally drive short distances, we recommend choosing a higher viscosity (eg. 5w40 engine oil).

Please also pay attention to the ACEA specification. The ACEA specification differentiates three types of passenger cars. The "A" series indicates cars with spark plug ignition and the "B" series diesel engines. The "C" series includes products that are suitable for both petrol, LPG and diesel engines with a catalytic converter. To make things easier, we have introduced an engine oil advisor. Change engine oil

It is very important to change engine oil regularly. But what is the best time to do this? There are different opinions about changing the car oil and they the right answer changes heavily based on car make, model and engine type. Some use every 6 thousand miles as a rule of thumb, while others perform an oil change every 9 or 12 thousand miles. In general, we recommend to change engine oil every 6 or 9 thousand miles. Using this interval ensures that the engine oil stays clean and will not negatively affect the engine performance. Driving less than 6 thousand miles a year? Then we recommend to change engine oil every year.

As already described, engine oil makes sure that the engine is subject less to wear. If you do not change engine oil on time, sooner or later problems will occur. Besides decreased engine performance or general engine failing, also a clogged oil filter or pollution in the engine may be a result. Both can cause heavy wear to your engine and eventually a complete engine break down.
