Why use a car phone holder?

Smart phones are used for everything these days. A phone is often used in the car as a navigation or for as media player. It´s fantastic that you no longer need a separate sat nav or an iPod. However, the flip side is that smart phones usage in traffic is increased enormously. It is known that holding a phone while driving evokes life-threatening situations. Not only the distractions of looking at a screen, but also the one-hand steering could lead to dangerous situations. So, it is much safer to place your phone in a car phone holder. Using a car phone holder can also save you a lot of money. Holding a phone in a car while driving is prohibited by law and can result in a hefty fine.

Not using a car phone holder? Chances are that your phone is regularly lying around somewhere in your car and goes in all kind of directions. Also, the screen is often rather difficult to comprehend, so you may be forced to pick up the phone again for a better look. A mobile phone holder is the ideal solution for this. Your phone remains at the same place and the screen is clear insight.

Types of car phone holders

Thinking of purchasing a car phone holder? Then you have probably already seen that there is more than enough choice. However, the most common and popular one is the car phone holder with suction cups. In addition, air vent phone holders are also increasing in popularity. Curious about the advantages and disadvantages of these variants, then keep on reading.

Car phone holder suction cup: The phone holder with a suction cup, or screen holder, are attached to the wind screen of your car with a suction cup. The ideal thing about this type car phone holder is that it is directly at the correct eye level. This ensures you to quickly look at your screen and immediately pay attention to the road again. Another advantage is that most of these car phone holders have a flexible arm. This allows you to position it just the way you like it.

A disadvantage of this type of mobile phone holder is that part of your view is blocked. An advantage is, however, that the ventilation grille is not blocked using this type. Another drawback is that the flexible arm makes the phone vibrate while driving. This mainly occurs with larger and heavier phones. This will increase the difficulty of seeing the screen properly.

Air-vent phone holder: an air vent phone holder can be mounted to the ventilation blower of your car. Assembly is very easy, because you can simply slide or click the holder onto the blower. This type of mobile phone holder is ideal for most cars and is positioned at a convenient height without obstructing your view. Because the ventilation grille is often movable, you can easily turn the phone towards you for the best view.

A disadvantage is that this phone holder is not suitable for every car or type of phone. Does your car have a rectangular shaped ventilation blower? Chances are that the mobile phone holder fits well. With round shaped ventilation blowers, it often becomes less likely that it fits well, resulting in an unstable car phone holder. Larger and heavier mobile phones are also less likely to be carried well by an air vent phone holder. Due to the weight of the mobile phone, the phone holder might slowly tilt down messing up a clear view of your phone´s screen.

CD slot phone holders: Another variant is the car phone holder for CD slots. You attach this phone holder in the CD slot. However, this variant is no longer popular as most cars no longer have a CD-player. If you still have a CD player in your car, this phone holder can offer the solution. A disadvantage is that you cannot play CDs when this holder is clicked into the CD slot. Also, operating the dashboard panel often becomes more difficult with a phone holder in front.

Magnetic car phone holders: In addition, there are also magnetic car phone holders. This is a different type from the already mentioned phone holders. What applies to all the afore mentioned mobile phone holders, is that you put the phone in a holder or have it clamped between brackets. With a magnetic car phone holder you attach a (supplied) magnet to your phone or phone case, which on itself sits against the dashboard for example. Now your phone is stuck to the magnetic phone holder. A big advantage is that you can easily rotate the phone from vertical to horizontal.

Specific or universal car phone holders

Often you still have a choice between a phone holder that is specifically suitable for your phone model or a universal one. With a mobile phone specific one, your phone always fit perfectly. Unless of course you buy a new phone, chances are that you have to buy a new phone holder as well. That is why most smart phone holders we offer are universal. Universal phone holders are suitable for multiple devices. Tip! Look closely at the minimum and maximum width of the product. If your phone is larger than this size, it probably won't fit.
