Why do headlights become dull?

In most cars, the headlight lenses are made of a transparent plastic with a coating layer over it. The headlight lenses are exposed to a lot of sunlight, stone chips, rain and other weather influences. Unfortunately, it is therefore almost impossible to prevent the headlights from discolouring, becoming dull or scratching over time. When installing the new lens, ensure a good seal between the lens and the unit so that the headlamp remains watertight.
