A cigarette lighter is also called a cigarette lighter plug, 12V socket or car charger. A cigarette lighter plug is
a 12V car connection, which used to be used to light a cigarette, and now for,
for example, charging a navigation system. The lighter plug receives the 12V
power from the car battery. Cigarette lighters in the car are now mainly used
with an adapter for charging phones or connecting navigation and
dashboard cameras. There are different versions of cigarette lighters available today.
Think of adapters with and without a cable or even with a USB connection. You
can also buy sockets to increase the number of lighter plugs.
