Temperature sensor

There are several temperature sensors in a car. These sensors all measure the temperature, but in different parts of the car. For example, a car contains the following sensors: coolant temperature sensor, oil temperature sensor, exhaust gas temperature sensor, intake temperature sensor and an interior temperature sensor. Intake air temperature sensor

An intake air temperature sensor or air inlet temperature sensor is located in the air filter housing. The air needed for combustion in the engine flows in here. The intake temperature sensor measures the incoming air and transmits the information to the computer (ECU) of the car. As the computer receives all the information, efficient combustion will occur and the engine will run optimally. When the air intake temperature sensor is faulty, combustion will no longer be efficient and the engine will run poorly. However, it can be difficult to determine if the problem is with the air intake sensor. In most cases it is therefore necessary to read it out.

Replacing the intake air temperature sensor

When the intake air temperature sensor is defective, you will have to replace it. Fortunately, replacing this sensor is quite easy. Simply loosen the screws and bolts and carefully remove the cables.

Exhaust gas temperature sensor

The EGR temperature sensor or exhaust gas temperature sensor measures the temperature in the catalytic converter or the particulate filter. The sensor then passes this information on to the engine control unit. The engine needs this information in order to efficiently control the composition of the mixture or the regeneration of the diesel particulate filter in order to reduce the level of toxic emissions. A defective EGR temperature sensor ensures a longer regeneration of the particulate filter.

Replacing the exhaust gas temperature sensor

In general, an exhaust gas temperature sensor is also easy to replace. The exhaust gas temperature sensor is mounted before the catalytic converter or the particulate filter. The sensor can be unscrewed and the electrical connector can also be easily removed. However, do not forget to disconnect the negative battery cable.

Interior temperature sensor

The car's interior temperature sensor controls the temperature in the engine compartment. The sensors in the engine ensure that the car can run properly and efficiently. If the car starts poorly or runs irregularly, the interior temperature sensor may be defective and must be replaced.
