Different kind of additives

There are different types of additives on the market that all have their own impact. Think of fuel additives, injector cleaners, oil additives, EGR cleaner, octane boosters and soot filter additives. Although these additives are the most popular ones, many more are available. We will briefly discuss the most popular ones.

Fuel additives are a kind of chemical liquid which you may add to the fuel. Note that not all fuel additives are alike. For a diesel car you need for example a diesel additive and for a petrol car a petrol additive. One of the main goals of fuel additives is to ensure that the oil is better capable of cleaning the engine and/or that the engine is able to produce more power. Within the fuel additive category, there are again types with different purposes. For example, there are cleaning engine additives that help keep the engine clean. There are also injector cleaners, which clean the injectors and improve fuel injection. An additive called an Engine Flush removes soot and dirt from the engine and helps to prevent blockages. A DPF cleaner, also known as a soot filter additive, is also mixed with the fuel and is designed to easily clean the soot filter when it is clogged.

There are also oil additives, which naturally get mixed with the engine oil. To prevent oil leakages we recommend using Stop Leak. This makes hardened seals flexible again. There are also oil stabilizers, which improve lubrication between the moving parts in your engine. Additionally, it gives an enhancing boost to cleaning the engine oil.

Last but not least, there are also radiator additives. These aren't mixed with the fuel but with the coolant. Radiator additives ensure that contaminated surfaces in the radiator get cleaned.

Just like the exterior and interior of your car, the car's engine and cooling system needs now and then a good cleaning. Cleaning the inside of the engine can be difficult and is often expensive at your local garage. However, with fuel additives, you can do it yourself. Additives mix with liquids such as fuel or coolant, gradually travel through your car. The car is then cleaned from the inside out, and dirt and deposits are removed. Ultimately, this results in better performance, fewer emissions and more efficient fuel consumption.
